Common Questions
To enrol in AUR40216, students must have completed AUR30616 or AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency. Students must also have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent, and meet English language requirements.
The total tuition fee is AU$8,000, charged at AU$4,000 per term. Additional fees include a Course Application Fee of AU$250.00, an Accommodation Placement Fee of AU$200.00 (if required), and an Airport Pick-up Fee of AU$200.00 (if required). International students must also arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their study.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based face-to-face learning and online study. International students are required to attend a minimum of 20 hours per week of scheduled contact hours, comprising 16 hours of classroom-based face-to-face delivery per week and 4 hours of compulsory e-learning via the MyPCT portal per week. Delivery methods also include practical workshop sessions at an Automotive Station and work/vocational placements.
To attain AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, students must complete 10 units comprising 1 core and 9 elective units, as required by the AUR – Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. Students may apply for exemption for any unit in which they can successfully demonstrate competency through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), in line with Pacific College of Technology's RPL Policies.
Pacific College of Technology offers four intakes in 2026: the First Term (Autumn) starts 2nd February, the Second Term (Winter) starts 20th April, the Third Term (Spring) starts 13th July, and the Fourth Term (Summer) starts 28th September. Each term runs for approximately 11 weeks of delivery, with the full course spanning 26 weeks including 6 weeks of term break/holidays.
