Common Questions
The tuition fee is AU$5,700 for both international and domestic students. Additional fees include a Resource fee of AU$500, a Material fee of AU$100, and a non-refundable Enrolment Fee of AU$250 payable at the time of enrolment. International students are also required to hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their student visa.
Applicants must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification. International students must also demonstrate English language proficiency, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent scores in Pearson Test of English (42) or Cambridge English: Advanced (169). Exemptions apply for citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, or Ireland, and for those who have completed relevant studies in Australia.
The course runs for 26 weeks, including 20 weeks of study and 6 weeks of holidays. Classes are scheduled for 2½ days per week, and full-time study requires students to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours each week. Duration may vary if the student has been granted credit transfer through advanced standing.
Graduates of the AUR40226 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis can pursue careers as an Automotive Master Technician, Automotive Heavy Vehicle Master Technician, or Performance Vehicle Technician. They may also progress to the Diploma of Automotive Technology.
Assessment methods include written assessments, verbal assessments, presentations, role plays/observations, and practical demonstrations. The majority of assessment tasks must be completed using a computer and reliable internet access, and students are required to bring their own device (laptop or computer) meeting minimum specifications including Windows 10 or higher, Intel i3 8th Generation or higher processor, and at least 8 GB RAM.
