Common Questions
Entry into this qualification is limited to students that have previously completed AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent. Additionally, international students must be at least 18 years of age, hold Year 12 or equivalent (including Year 10 Maths pass or equivalent) or a Certificate III qualification or above, and meet the English language requirement of an IELTS academic score of 6.0 or equivalent.
This qualification is delivered over 52 weeks, including 36 weeks of training and assessment and 16 weeks of holidays.
The course is delivered across Trinity Institute (Australia) campuses at 35 Smith Street, Parramatta NSW 2150 and Level 5, 770 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000, with automotive workshops located at 62 Tattersall Road, Kings Park NSW. Facilities include training rooms, fully functioning automotive workshops with light vehicles, tools and manufacturer specifications, and personal protective and safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection and gloves.
Students who complete this course may be able to seek employment in a range of automotive retail and services roles such as Auto Mechanic, Automotive Light Vehicle Master Technician, Automotive Repair Technician, and Automotive Mechanical Technician. After achieving this qualification, students may also choose to undertake relevant higher level automotive qualifications. Licensing requirements may apply.
This course is conducted with a blended learning model that includes face-to-face learning in classrooms and in automotive workshops, and also via interactive online learning. Training and assessment is scheduled for 20 hours attendance per week during terms, and it is recommended that students spend an additional 5–6 hours per week on study, research, practice and assessment preparation.
