The CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction is designed to meet the needs of builders responsible for selecting and overseeing contractors, managing work quality, and liaising with clients, and may support the licensing requirements of the relevant building authority in a student's state or territory (these vary by jurisdiction and may require additional steps beyond this qualification). Students study units covering building codes and standards for a range of building classes, work health and safety management, reading and interpreting plans, minimising site waste, site survey and set-out procedures, contract administration, cost estimating, labour and material scheduling, procuring and storing construction materials, energy-efficient building science, and preparing tender documentation, alongside meeting management and project quality technique units. The course is delivered at The Centre of Excellence's North Geelong, Melbourne and Adelaide campuses over 60 weeks including holidays, with new intakes accepted every month.
