Trinity Institute (Australia) will deliver this qualification over 104 weeks, including 60 weeks of training and assessment, and 44 weeks of holidays.
Applicants must have an IELTS academic score of 6.0 or equivalent (test must have been taken no more than 12 months ago). Alternatively, English language competence can be demonstrated through: being educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; successful completion of at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course or above in an Australian education institution; or successful completion of an Oxford English language placement test with an overall score of not less than Level B2 (Upper Intermediate).
Trinity Institute (Australia) provides training rooms, simulated building worksites with associated equipment and tools required for all units, and personal protective and safety equipment such as a Trinity Institute (Australia) safety workshirt, eye protection, hearing protection and gloves. Students are required to provide their own laptop installed with Microsoft Office or similar, a scientific calculator or carpenter's calculator phone APP, safety work boots, protective workwear (trousers, overalls), and other text books, personal protective equipment and tools as listed on the resources list prior to enrolment.
Students who complete this course successfully may be able to seek employment within the building and construction industry in roles such as Builder, General Foreperson, and Building Inspector. Note that licensing requirements may apply. Graduates may also wish to continue their education into a range of higher education qualifications in the building and construction industry.
To attain this qualification, 27 units of competency must be successfully completed, covering areas such as structural principles, risk and financial management, estimating, contract administration, building codes and standards, WHS, and project management.
