Certificate IV in Business

The Certificate IV in Business (BSB40120) at TasTAFE equips students with specialised skills for today's changing business environment, and suits people ready to take on new challenges and more responsibility by boosting their existing business knowledge and skills. Students gain practical skills including developing emotional intelligence, applying critical thinking to work practices, implementing communication strategies in the workplace, and building and maintaining business relationships. The course also explores work health and safety — implementing and monitoring WHS policies, procedures and programs — and teaches students to undertake project work, write complex documents and use digital technologies to collaborate, with electives covering presentations, difficult conversations, team learning and development, recruitment and onboarding, research information, workplace leadership, business resources and operational plans, business meetings and continuous improvement. As an applied qualification, it requires practical assessment for most units in a workplace or simulated work environment, with scope to make and influence decisions and manage other employees.

Domestically the course is delivered online and at Alanvale on a part-time basis and is also available as a traineeship, with tuition of $2,010 subsidised, $410 concession or $8,375 commercial, plus a $152 learning resource fee. International students study for 26 weeks in Hobart at 20 hours per week with February and July intakes, at AUD $7,630. Graduates can seek employment across a wide range of business roles, including those with supervisory accountabilities, or progress to the Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420).
