Certificate IV in Business

The BSB40120 Certificate IV in Business is a nationally recognised vocational qualification delivered by The Business School (TBS) at its Campsie campus in Sydney, NSW. It reflects the role of individuals across a variety of business services job roles, including Executive Officers, Office Managers and Program Coordinators, who carry out a mix of specialist and moderately complex administrative or operational tasks requiring self-development skills. Students develop well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, analyse information from a variety of sources, and provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others. To be awarded the qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 6 core units and 6 elective units (12 units total), covering areas such as workplace health and safety, digital technologies, business relationships, complex documents, communication strategies, critical thinking, personal work priorities, emotional intelligence, leadership and business risk management. Domestic students study the course online over 48 weeks via TBS's Learning Management System (LMS), with a scheduled release of units, regular trainer contact and support services. International students study face-to-face in a trainer-led classroom on campus over 52 weeks across 4 terms, including 12 weeks of holiday. Assessment methods include underpinning knowledge tasks, projects/case scenarios and practical assessments, with submitted work assessed within 7 working days. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), credit transfer and national recognition may also be available. On successful completion, students can pursue further study pathways such as the BSB50120 Diploma of Business or BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Business, or progress into a range of business support and administration roles.
