About This Course

The Certificate IV in Cyber Security prepares you for entry-level careers in cyber security, networking and IT support through practical training in cyber defence, networking, cloud technologies, ethical hacking and security operations. Delivered through Holmesglen's HyFlex mixed delivery model, the course combines on-campus and online learning to provide flexible study options for eligible students. At Holmesglen, you'll develop practical cyber security skills through hands-on learning that reflects current industry practice, covering cyber defence, network security, operating systems, cloud security, ethical hacking, web application security, governance and security operations through real-world projects and realistic scenarios. You'll gain experience using enterprise technologies and professional tools used by cyber security teams, including the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC), Cyber Range, NETLAB+, CompTIA Academy resources and Cisco Packet Tracer.

General Requirements

Domestic Students:

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification under the Training Package; however, Holmesglen requires applicants to meet the following admission requirements:
Successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent, or be of mature age
Be 18 years of age or older at the commencement of the course

Free TAFE eligibility

To be eligible for a Free TAFE place in this course, you must hold the Certificate III in Information Technology (a Victorian Government requirement); applicants should enrol in that qualification before applying for this course.
Applicants require basic computer literacy (using a computer, internet, email, file management, software installation) and, if bringing their own device or studying remotely, a PC or laptop meeting minimum specifications (quad-core CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, Windows OS or VM).
Prior to enrolment, applicants must complete a literacy and numeracy assessment (BKSB) and a Pre-Training Review interview.

International Students:

Good passes at Year 11 or the overseas equivalent
English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0
Students must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the course
