About This Course

This qualification trains and equips students not only to provide individual support to people living with disability, but to empower them with more independence and self-reliance, encourage community participation and improve their overall well-being. Students are trained to utilise a person-centred approach working with and often contributing to the person's individualised plan, which may involve connecting clients with community services or service programs, sourcing advocacy and representation services, providing advice on government funding options, or helping them work towards future employment. Graduates of the Cert IV in Disability Support are trained to work without direct supervision, and in some cases may be called upon to coordinate or supervise a small team.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Must have completed one of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability plus CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support.
Must be aged 18 or older.
Must hold or be able to hold a working with children check, a Safe Environments for Children certificate, an aged care sector employment check, a national police check, and an NDIS worker check (as required).
Must be able to show current COVID-19 vaccination status (as per current state and federal regulations).
Must be competent in English (written and spoken), and capable with both numeracy and digital technology; Solis College may administer an LLN test to verify this. International students must achieve an IELTS score of at least 6.0 (or the equivalent from a different language test).
