Common Questions
Students must demonstrate an English level of IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5, or an equivalent qualification such as IBT 60, PTE 50, CAE 169, OET B, General English Advanced or equivalent, MOI Certificate, Duolingo 95, MET, LANGUAGECERT Academic, CELPIP General, or a Certificate IV or higher qualification from an Australian institution.
You must have completed MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade with Lead College or another institute with a similar elective. This qualification is intended for qualified tradespeople or apprentices under an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement, and is not intended for pre-employment or pre-apprenticeship use.
Assessment methods used throughout the course include written questions or reports to demonstrate theoretical understanding, practical activities or projects simulating real-world tasks, case study analysis for critical thinking and problem-solving, direct observation during practical sessions or workplace activities, and supervised work placement where applicable.
The Certificate IV in Engineering (MEM40119) is offered at Windsor and Perth campuses. The course duration is 104 weeks, delivered in a blended mode combining face-to-face classroom learning, simulated industry workplace activities, and supervised online study. Students are also expected to complete approximately 10 hours per week of unsupervised study.
After completing the Certificate IV in Engineering, students can pursue the Advanced Trade Diploma in Engineering or other suitable qualifications as additional training opportunities stemming from this certification.
