Certificate IV in Hospitality

The Certificate IV in Hospitality offers students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills of the hospitality industry, including roles within the food and beverage, hotel service and gaming sectors. This qualification is designed to provide graduates a comprehensive understanding of hospitality services, including knowledge of essential hospitality activities such as workplace health and safety, gaming, food and beverage service, staff management, procurement and management of goods, and hospitality administration.

This qualification reflects the role of skilled operators who use a broad range of hospitality service, sales or operational skills combined with supervisory skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to plan, monitor, and evaluate the work of team members. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a supervisor in hospitality organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage, and gaming. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry code of practice. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
