Common Questions
This full-time course runs over 60 academic weeks plus 18 weeks of holidays, totalling 78 weeks of enrolment. Flexible study options are available for domestic students, including 100% online and self-paced or blended learning formats.
Mindroom's course entry standard is IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent). Accepted tests for student visa evidence include IELTS Academic or General Training (average band 6.0), PTE Academic (47), TOEFL iBT (67 total), OET (B in each component), C1 Advanced/CAE (161), CELPIP General (7), LanguageCert Academic (61), and MET (53). Packaged English (ELICOS) pathway options with lower score thresholds are also available. Exemptions may apply for passport holders from the UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Ireland.
A personal laptop is a mandatory requirement for in-class studies. The recommended spec is a Windows PC with an i7 Intel chip with appropriate RAM and HDD to match the CPU specs. Apple machines are not recommended due to frequent compatibility issues, and laptops running a Snapdragon chip are also not suitable as software cannot utilise this chip correctly.
At Mindroom, graduates often use this qualification as a foundation for more specialised study, such as ICT50220 โ Diploma of Information Technology (to deepen skills in areas such as web development, programming, networking or business analysis) or 11358NAT โ Certificate IV in Artificial Intelligence for Business. As an AQF Level 4 qualification, ICT40120 may also support applications to diploma-level courses in IT, networking, programming, cyber or interactive media with other providers, depending on each institution's admission criteria.
The course offers elective units across several specialisation areas: IT and Programming (troubleshooting, junior development, mobile apps), Digital Design and Media (interactive and visual content, video/audio editing, animations), Cybersecurity and IT Governance (risk management, policy compliance), and Gaming and 3D Development (3D asset design and modelling, interactive game components).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful โ never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
