The Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (SIT40521) has a duration of 78 weeks for international students.
International students must have an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old). Other tests such as PTE and TOEFL can also be accepted, provided results are confirmed as equivalent to IELTS 6.0. Students may be exempt from providing English language evidence if they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country, completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO, successfully completed an English Placement Test and Digital Literacy Test, completed a foundation course in Australia, or completed their High School in English Language.
The Certificate IV in Kitchen Management is delivered at Brighton College campuses in Brisbane (Level 2, 108 Margaret Street, Brisbane City, QLD 4000), Melbourne (Level 1, 255 William Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000), Sydney (Level 8, 532-540 George Street, Sydney, NSW 2000), and Hobart (Level 2, 73-81 Murray St, Hobart, TAS 7000).
Students who complete this course may be able to seek employment in a range of organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops, or to run a small business in these sectors, in roles such as Chef or Chef de Parties.
The Certificate IV in Kitchen Management consists of a total of 33 units, made up of 27 core units and 6 elective units. Core units cover areas such as food preparation, food safety, menu design, staff management, and financial management, while elective units include topics such as responsible service of alcohol and food for buffets.
