For 2026, the NT Government supported fee is $5,447.75 for eligible domestic students who are NT residents (limited places available). The full fee is $17,984.65. For international students holding a student visa, the annual tuition fee for commencing students in 2026 is AUD $17,420.00. Fee exemptions may also apply for recipients of Centrelink payments, Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, enrolled secondary students, and permanent residents with refugee or humanitarian status.
Students must supply their own tools of trade and uniform. The uniform includes 2 white double-breasted chef's jackets, 2 pairs of chef's trousers, 2 white aprons, 2 navy blue neckerchiefs, 1 white chef's hat (skull cap), and heavy-duty non-slip shoes. For food and beverage components, a white button business shirt, black trousers/skirt, and formal black lace-up shoes are required. The starter toolkit includes a 25cm/30cm chef's knife, steel, paring knife, vegetable peeler, thermometer, palette knife, boning knife, fish filleting knife, utility fork, thermal piping bag, set of nozzles, and a sharpening stone. All tools and uniforms must be clearly identified by engraving or pen.
To achieve SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, students must complete a total of 33 units of competency: 27 core units and 6 elective units. The 6 elective units consist of 3 units from Group A (Cookery and catering) and 3 units from the listed electives or from any current endorsed Training Package or accredited course. The total nominal hours for the course are 1,415 hours.
Further training pathways from this qualification include but are not limited to SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management. Additionally, students who successfully complete this Certificate IV and subsequently enrol in a Bachelor degree in the same field or discipline at CDU may receive up to 40 credit points of advanced standing toward a 3-year or 4-year Bachelor award.
Yes, this qualification is available to international students. The CRICOS Course No. is 109632G, applicable at both the Alice Springs and Palmerston campus locations. International student visa holders must study internally full-time (1.5 years). The minimum English language requirement includes an IELTS Academic score of at least 5.5 overall with no band less than 5.0, or equivalent scores in other accepted English tests.
