The total course fee is AUD $9,000. In addition, there is a non-refundable enrolment fee of $300 (to be paid on application) and a materials fee of $200. Additional fees and charges may also apply and can be found in the International Student Handbook on the Western Star Academy website.
Assessment occurs through a variety of methods including knowledge questions, projects, and observations. Knowledge questions are completed in class or as part of online assessment sessions, while projects and observations are completed in class. Assessment tasks reflect real life work tasks, are performed within industry standard timeframes, utilise authentic workplace documentation, and involve the use of standard workplace equipment such as computers and software.
Yes, students can apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge and experience through credit transfer or recognition of prior learning (RPL). If a student is granted course credit, this will affect both course fees and the duration of the course. The college will advise the student in writing of any changes to fees or course duration, and a new Confirmation of Enrolment will be issued.
Students are expected to attend classes for a total of 14 hours per week, along with an additional 6 hours of structured online study. Furthermore, students are required to dedicate approximately 5 hours per week to additional study, which includes general reading and research for assessments.
Applicants must have an IELTS score of 5.5 (with test results no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of having been educated for 3 years in an English-speaking country, or through successful completion of an English Placement Test at IELTS level 5.5. Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can also be accepted, provided results are confirmed to be equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
