In today's business environment marketing plays a vital role in understanding consumers and markets, enabling companies to make more profitable and more effective decisions, and in every sector of the economy — public, private or not-for-profit — marketing is critical to the success of a business. The Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication (BSB40820) at Academies Australasia Polytechnic is the entry point into AAPoly's nationally recognised marketing pathway and gives students a working knowledge of both the marketplace and the implications of the marketing mix. Over two terms (18 college weeks) of on-campus study, students learn to make presentations and to articulate, present and debate ideas; to create and optimise digital media and conduct e-marketing communications; to prepare digital content and develop a social media strategy; and to undertake marketing activities and develop knowledge of the communications industry. Analytical and writing units cover analysing consumer behaviour and writing complex documents, while workplace units cover managing meetings and creating electronic presentations. The qualification opens access to entry-level positions across advertising, direct marketing, promotion marketing and marketing research, and is the standard pathway into the Diploma of Marketing and Communication (BSB50620).
