Common Questions
Yes, you need to complete 80 hours (10 days) of work placement which will be organised by SGSCC. You will work as a student (unpaid) during work placement. Before commencing work placement, you will be required to get a current national criminal record check to allow you to work in a care service facility. SGSCC will assist you with this application process.
No. This is a competency-based course — you will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 15 units of learning. Assessments are made up of case studies, demonstration, portfolio of evidence, presentation, questions and answers, and research reports.
This qualification is subsidised by the NSW Government. You can register to check your Smart & Skilled eligibility and student fee contribution.
When you have completed and been deemed competent, you can progress with SGSCC to the CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health.
You will need a computer with internet access, email access, and a Facebook account. Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning, and digital learning and assessment materials are provided on aNewSpring (Learning Management System).
