Yes, high school students can study the Certificate IV in Music and receive up to 8 credit points towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). The Certificate IV in Music has two intake dates per year: January and July.
Adult students are required to come in for two full days per week, with a total of 20 hours of instruction and 4 hours of private practice, rehearsals and performances per week. High school students will either undertake the qualification at school or attend the campus one to two days a week, with an additional four hours per week allocated to private practice, rehearsals, performances and attendance of concerts.
All applicants must submit documents supporting their skill level and experience in music to the Trainer and participate in an audition process that determines aural skills, music knowledge and performance techniques. For the audition, applicants should prepare two contrasting pieces. International students must also provide evidence of English proficiency (minimum 6.0 IELTS) and successful completion of senior schooling.
