Tuition fees vary depending on eligibility: the concession fee is $1,200, the government subsidised fee is $6,000, and the non-subsidised fee is $12,750. A materials fee of $304 and a maximum annual amenities fee (up to $180 for concession or $260 for others) also apply, bringing total payable costs to $1,684 (concession), $6,564 (government subsidised), or $13,314 (non-subsidised).
Once you've successfully completed the Certificate III in Patisserie SIT31021, you can move into the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management SIT40521, Diploma of Hospitality Management SIT50422, or the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management SIT60322.
The course is delivered on-campus at Melbourne Polytechnic's Preston campus. Intakes are available in February and July each year, with the course running for 12 months full time or 18 months part time.
Yes, you'll gain unique industry experience showcasing your delicious creations at Melbourne Polytechnic's award-winning restaurant, St Georges. You will also learn in dedicated pastry kitchens under qualified and experienced teachers with current industry knowledge.
There are no educational prerequisites for this course for local students. For international students, requirements include Australian Year 11 equivalency for academic preparation, English proficiency of Academic IELTS 5.5 with no individual band below 5.0 (or equivalent), and the course is available full-time only at Melbourne Polytechnic's Preston campus.
