Common Questions
You will need to purchase a DSLR camera body or similar (preferably Canon or Nikon) as an essential requirement, with a tripod and camera flash (such as Canon 430EX/580EX or Nikon SB700/SB900) being preferable. You will also need your own laptop computer with a current Adobe Creative Cloud Suite subscription. Please note that students are required to purchase these items at their own expense.
The course runs for 38 weeks in total, broken down as 26 weeks of study, 3 weeks of supervised study, and 9 weeks of holidays. Start dates are monthly — you may commence any Monday. Students who do not start on a preferred start date will complete orientation and then commence class at the start of the next unit.
Students must pass a minimum of one of the following English requirements: an Upper Intermediate Certificate or higher, a Certificate IV level or higher qualification in Australia, IELTS 5.5–6, FCE Grade B or C, CAE 160–179, TOEFL 72–94, TOEIC 400–485 (listening) and 385–450 (reading), or the Entrepreneur Education English Test achieving at least Upper Intermediate level. All English evidence must be within a 2-year validity period.
You may be eligible for Credit Transfers if you hold the same unit(s) from another provider. To be eligible, you must present your certified qualification at the enrolment stage together with the completed 'Course Credit Form'. Once assessed, you will be notified of the outcome. Should your achieved units be equivalent, your CoE/course duration will be reduced according to the amount of time needed to complete the outstanding units.
Graduates of the Certificate IV in Photography and Digital Imaging can pursue roles such as Freelance Photographer, Photography Assistant, or Photography Store Assistant, gaining the practical, theoretical and creative skills to begin a career in the photography industry.
