Common Questions
To enrol, students must be aged 16 or over, complete a Language Literacy & Numeracy Assessment assessed by the Language Studies Department, and hold a Certificate III in Horticulture or a related field, or have equivalent to Australian Year 11 general schooling, or have 2 years of work experience in a horticultural related field.
The course duration is 53 weeks.
National students can study via classroom face to face, online through Moodle, or distance learning. International students are limited to classroom face to face delivery only, at 20 hours per week.
Completion of twelve (12) selected units is required, covering areas such as irrigation scheduling, crop regulation, soil health, plant nutrition, quality assurance, work health and safety, biosecurity, and budget management.
Graduates are classified under ANZSCO 121616 as a Vegetable Grower (AUS) or Market Gardner (NZ), and are prepared for roles as production horticulture supervisors with responsibilities in managing planting, growing and harvesting activities, developing nutrition programs, managing irrigation, and operating budgets.
