The total fees for the 12-month course vary depending on eligibility: Fee Free TAFE places are available at $0 (limited places, eligibility criteria applies); Subsidised places cost $2,652 in total ($1,326 per semester); Concession places cost $1,632 in total ($816 per semester); and Full Fee places cost $13,906 in total ($6,953 per semester). If all Fee Free TAFE places are filled, you may be offered a subsidised place instead.
You are able to use the TAFE SA facilities and computer suites, or you may choose to buy relevant software. Optional software includes a SketchUp one (1) year Student Licence for approximately $93.50 and Microsoft Project Student Licence (Cloud Base) at $14.00 per month. A free Autodesk Student Licence is available on course registration for Revit and AutoCAD.
To complete the Certificate IV in Residential Drafting (CPP40121), you are required to complete all 7 core units and 3 elective units. The course covers materials, compliance, software and files, structural integrity, transposing information, concept drawings and design drawings. Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
Yes, the course is available in both full-time and part-time modes. Both options are delivered at the Tonsley campus in a blended format, combining scheduled on-campus learning with online study. Lecturer support is provided for all study, and access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
Graduates may pursue roles such as Draftsperson to a design or architectural business, Assistant to a building designer, or Assistant to an architect. Note that completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome, and formal requirements other than educational qualifications (e.g. licensing, professional registration) may apply to some occupations.
