You will complete three major industry-based projects over the six-month program: a Short Documentary (interview-based storytelling), a Short Film (narrative/drama using screenwriting and short-form storytelling), and a Live Event Multicamera Recording (directing, vision mixing, and shooting live concerts and theatre productions in collaboration with students from music, sound production, theatre production, and technical services areas).
For local students, the tuition fee is $1,220 (concession), $6,100 (government subsidised), or $14,250 (non-subsidised), with a maximum annual amenities fee of $180 (concession) or $260 (subsidised/non-subsidised). For international students, the fee is $10,640 per semester. This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.
Melbourne Polytechnic will supply access to professional equipment, learning materials and books. You will need to buy a personal data storage device. It is also helpful to own a computer with video editing software to be able to work from home. There are no materials fees.
Yes. Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Screen and Media CUA41220 will enable you to enrol straight into Melbourne Polytechnic's Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media CUA60620.
This program features industry professionals with years of production and broadcast experience. They are experts in using the screen and media equipment available at Melbourne Polytechnic and the professional processes involved in media production. The course uses a project-based learning approach, with assessment methods including observation of students' performance and actions, direct questioning and verbal interaction, written tests and assignments, and analysis of finished video productions.
