Upon completing the 11149NAT Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching, you can pursue roles such as yoga teacher in gyms or studios, yoga studio owner, program coordinator, or work as a self-employed or contracted teacher. You will also qualify to register as a Level 1 accredited teacher with Yoga Australia – 300 hours of training.
The course runs for 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment across 4 terms of 10 weeks, and 12 weeks of holidays. Each week you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week of self-directed learning should be set aside for homework.
Yes. Completing the 11149NAT Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching will open a study pathway into the 11150NAT Diploma of Yoga Teaching, offering opportunities to work as a specialist yoga teacher.
You must meet one of the following English language criteria: an IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent) with no individual band score below 5.0; the ALG in-house English proficiency test equivalent to IELTS 5.5; a Certificate IV level qualification or higher completed within the AQF in Australia within 2 years before starting this course; or completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in Australia in the English language within 2 years before starting this course. You are also required to complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) online test.
Assessments include written short question answers, case studies, presentations, role plays and practical demonstrations in a simulated environment, and projects. Students also undertake practical exercises such as practice teaching on classmates, role play, and group sessions in on-site yoga studios.
