To be awarded this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 17 units, consisting of 15 core and 2 elective units. Please note that elective units may vary by state and are subject to change to meet client and industry requirements.
ETEA utilises a range of assessment methods including question and answer/written assessment tasks, role play/practical demonstration and observation of skills (as applicable), and practical demonstration and observation of skills in a simulated environment (as applicable). Assessment will be either a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway or a Training and Assessment pathway.
Yes, you can apply for recognition of prior learning, academic credit and work experience towards this qualification. Through work, volunteer roles, family commitments and various tasks undertaken in everyday life, you build up a bank of knowledge and skills, and evidence of these can be used to help you gain a qualification. Credit Transfer is also available.
After completing this qualification, you may progress to related qualifications such as CHC40321 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health, or CHC40521 Certificate IV in Youth Justice. You may also upskill by attaining CHC50313 Diploma of Youth Justice, CHC50321 Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention, CHC53215 Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs, or CHC50521 Diploma of Youth Justice.
A current Police Check and Working with Children Check are required before the commencement of practical placements for those specific courses which include a practical placement component. These checks are not necessarily required at enrolment but must be in place before practical placement begins.
