Combined Master of Arts and Social Sciences

• A recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) and requirements specific to the individual Master (one year, 48 UOC) programs chosen.
• Students from a non-211 university in China are required to have a record of academic achievement equivalent to a UNSW distinction average (75%).

Master of Applied Linguistics:

• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Linguistics; Languages; TESOL; Cognitive Science; Philosophy; Speech Pathology; Interpreting and Translation; Health Sciences) with a UNSW credit average of 65%; OR
• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%.

Master of Development Studies:

• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Social Sciences; Humanities; Business; Economics; Law; Public Health; Communications; Social Work; Psychology/Psychological Science) with a UNSW credit average of 65%; OR
• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one year relevant professional experience.

Master of Education:

• A four-year bachelor's degree or combined degree in education (including professional experience or practicum) equivalent to graduate teacher status in NSW or other Australian jurisdictions; OR
• A recognised bachelor's degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification equivalent to graduate teacher status; OR
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, plus three years of relevant professional experience and development.

Master of Educational Leadership:

• A four-year bachelor's degree or combined degree in education (including professional experience or practicum) equivalent to graduate teacher status in NSW or other Australian jurisdictions; OR
• A recognised bachelor's degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification equivalent to graduate teacher status; OR
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, plus three years of relevant professional experience and development.

Master of Environmental Management:

• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%; OR
• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one year relevant professional experience.

Master of International Relations:

• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Social Sciences; Humanities; Business; Economics; Law; Public Health; Communications) with a UNSW credit average of 65%; OR
• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one year relevant professional experience.

Master of Journalism & Communication:

• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Media, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising) with a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one year relevant professional experience; OR
• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%.

Master of Public Policy & Governance:

• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Social Sciences; Humanities; Business; Economics; Law; Public Health; Communications; Social Research and Policy; Social Work) with a UNSW credit average of 65%; OR
• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one year relevant professional experience.

Master of Public Relations & Advertising:

• An honours degree or graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Media, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising) with a UNSW credit average of 65%; OR
• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one year relevant professional experience.

Master of Translation:

• A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline (Interpreting and Translation, Linguistics, Languages) with a credit average (UNSW WAM of 65) and an advanced level of bilingual proficiency, plus one year relevant professional experience.
• Students in this stream will receive 24 UOC in advanced standing upon entry and will complete a 1 year (48 UOC) program of study.

Excluded combination:

• Master of Development Studies in International Development combined with Master of Development Studies in Refugees and Displacement is not permitted.
