Control traffic with stop-slow bat

All students:

• Academic: Year 10 completion or equivalent.
• Minimum age: 18 years.
• English: IELTS 6.0 direct entry (or equivalent pathways).
• All applicants (onshore and offshore) must complete a Pre-Training Review (PTR) and an LLND assessment before enrolment.

Workshop & PPE requirements:

• High-visibility clothing (vest or shirt)
• Safety boots
• Hard hat
• Gloves
• Sun protection — sunscreen, sunglasses, hat
• Additional PPE may be required depending on site conditions
• For self-study: laptop/computer (Windows 7+), internet access, active email, and MS Office

Physical abilities requirements:

• Stand for extended periods in live road environments
• Remain alert and respond quickly to changing traffic conditions
• Handle stop-slow bat and signage equipment
• Work in varying weather and outdoor conditions

Work placement: Simulated or controlled live-traffic training environments.

International students — English language requirements:

• For tests taken before 7 August 2025 — minimum score / +10 weeks ELICOS / +20 weeks ELICOS: IELTS 6.0 / 5.5 / 5.0; TOEFL iBT 64 / 46 / 35; Cambridge English Advanced 169 / 162 / 154; PTE-A 50 / 42 / 36; Occupational English Test B in each component for all three pathways.
• For tests taken on or after 7 August 2025 — minimum score / +10 weeks ELICOS / +20 weeks ELICOS: IELTS 6.0 / 5.5 / 5.0; PTE Academic 47 / 39 / 31; TOEFL iBT 67 / 51 / 37; CELPIP General 7 / 6 / 5; C1 Advanced (Cambridge) 161 (direct entry only); LANGUAGECERT Academic 61 / 54 / 46; MET 53 / 49 / 44; Occupational English Test 1210 / 1090 / 1020.
• English test results must not be older than 2 years for offshore applicants.
• Alternative pathway: 5+ years of English-medium study in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, the UK, or the USA.
• Or, within 2 years of application: completed a foundation course, a senior secondary certificate in Australia (student visa), or 50%+ of an AQF Level IV or higher qualification.
• International students must meet visa conditions and maintain satisfactory course progress.

• Operational team roles in the resources, civil and infrastructure industries, working under supervision in live traffic environments
• Pathway to RIIWHS302E Implement Traffic Management Plans, supervising traffic control operations, or broader civil construction and site supervision roles
