Diploma in Health Support (exit only)

This is an early exit program only. Applicants apply to Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing - WSU Online and exit with the Diploma in Health Support award. Offered as a Diploma qualification of 80 credit points, it is normally completed in 1 year full-time. Students do not apply for this award directly: admission is to the parent program, and the qualification is conferred on those who leave that program early having completed the required credit points. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Nursing and Midwifery academic area. Subjects include Approaches to Professional Nursing Practice, Health Variations 5 - Palliative and End of Life Care, Pharmacology in Nursing, Professional Practice Experience 2 and Health Variations 2 - Chronic Conditions and Disability. Graduates are expected to be able to discuss strategies that promote health literacy and community support taking into consideration cultural, ethical, and legal perspectives; apply the principles of person-centred care with reference to respect, emotional support, physical comfort, care coordination and access to care; explain sociocultural factors that contribute to individual and community health; and describe regional, national, and global health priorities to inform evidence-based practice.
