Diploma in Information Technology

The Diploma in Information Technology (DipInfoTech) is an Australian Catholic University award of 80 credit points with a minimum duration of one year full-time or equivalent part-time. To qualify for the diploma a student completes 80 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings (Part A), which lists eight specified units: Academic Literacy in Business and Information Technology, Information Technology in Action, Fundamentals of Information Technology, Programming Concepts, Python Fundamentals for Data Science, Data and Information Management, Introduction to Cyber Security, and Managing People and Organisations. Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide unless otherwise approved by the Course Adviser, and in all aspects of progress through the course students are advised by the Course Adviser. On completion of the 80 credit points, students may either articulate into the second year of the relevant bachelor degrees listed in the handbook with up to one year (80 credit points) equivalent of credit, or exit with the Diploma in Information Technology as a standalone qualification. The 2026 handbook lists seven approved locations, Ballarat, Blacktown, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, North Sydney and Strathfield, but qualifies that list with notes stating that the course is not offered at Blacktown, Brisbane and Melbourne in 2026, and that Ballarat, Blacktown, Canberra and Strathfield are available to cohorts only.
