Students will gain skills and knowledge required to prepare non-complex income tax returns for individuals in line with statutory requirements, encompassing gathering and verifying data, calculating taxable income, and reviewing compliance requirements.

Common Questions
The program for FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting is delivered over 52 weeks with actual student contact hours being 20 hours per week for 40 weeks. It has been divided into 4 terms of 10 weeks each with 12 weeks of holidays.
Students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language competency by one of the following: a current IELTS score of 6.0 total or above with no band lower than 6.0; proof of completion of an Australian qualification in English language of one year or longer duration; successful completion of an approved English for Academic Purposes course meeting IELTS 6.0 equivalent requirements; or a successful score of Upper Intermediate Level on the School's English Language Placement Test.
Assessments for qualifications are competency based, meaning students are assessed against the unit of competency requirements. Each unit comprises assessment tasks such as written questions, case studies and practical assessments, which must be completed in full before being submitted for marking. Students receive either a Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC) result. Students have three (3) attempts to demonstrate competency, otherwise a unit re-enrolment fee applies.
The course is delivered in a blended mode comprising 75% face-to-face training (trainer led sessions with in-class experiential activities) and 25% online training via Moodle-based assessment tasks. Campus locations include Level 6, 2 Meredith Street, Bankstown NSW 2200; Suite 1, Level 8, 168 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000; Level 3, 531 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000; and Level 2, 1-3 Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta NSW 2150.
The course will use theory, case studies, practical demonstrations/role plays and mini-projects to develop practical skills, including how to prepare and process routine financial documents, record general journal adjustment entries, prepare end of period financial reports, analyse and report on financial and business performance information, prepare non-complex income tax returns, prepare and manage budgets and forecasts, and review corporate governance requirements. Students will also learn the latest accounting software applications such as QuickBooks and MYOB.
