Common Questions
Yes, the Diploma of Accounting is a Free TAFE priority course. The Victorian Government is currently waiving tuition fees for students who meet eligibility criteria for government subsidised places. However, students are still required to pay the Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to $373 for 2026, as well as any material fees and other non-tuition costs associated with the course.
The Industry Advisory Committee for this diploma includes representatives from major accounting and bookkeeping professional bodies including the Association of Accounting Technicians, Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, Institute of Public Accountants, Chartered Accountants (Australia and New Zealand), and CPA Australia, as well as high-profile industry practitioners from a broad cross-section of small and large organisations.
Graduates of the Diploma of Accounting are guaranteed entry into the Advanced Diploma of Accounting (FNS60222), as well as undergraduate degrees including the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business, and Bachelor of Business Professional Practice. Credit may apply from the diploma, which could reduce the total duration of the destination course.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes supervised tests, reports, oral presentations, role plays, group projects and practical assignments. The diploma uses a competency-based approach where students learn and are assessed by practising and demonstrating their capabilities within a practice firm environment that simulates real-world job roles.
If you are not eligible for a Free TAFE fee waiver, the 2026 government subsidised place fee is AU$7,250 per annum, and the full-fee place is AU$10,750 per annum. For international students, the total fee is AU$13,000 (2026 total). Eligible students may also defer tuition fees through the Australian Government's VET Student Loans scheme.
