The Fashion Centre of Excellence is a whole building dedicated to everything fashion. There are rooms for pattern making, millinery, sewing, stretch wear and screen printing, all with industry-standard machinery and equipment giving students everything they need to successfully bring their ideas to life.
No prior experience is necessary. Student Jay Harris described coming from no training and being unable to even thread a sewing machine before enrolling, yet went on to tailor suits, shirts and swimwear after studying at TAFE Queensland.
Yes, after graduating with the diploma, students can go on to pursue a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Applied Fashion) (ARB402) with the University of Canberra, as Jay Harris did after completing his diploma at TAFE Queensland.
Teachers at TAFE Queensland are described as amazing, breaking down subject matter and guiding students through it step by step. They care so much that they often stay late, come in on weekends and keep students on track, while also pushing students to refine their skills further.
Yes, students have the opportunity to be recognised for their work. For example, Jay Harris won the Country Women's Association Bursary award for a range of swimwear he created during his diploma studies.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
