Live Event Production
This unit introduces the student to the principles of effective professional work practices by focusing on the knowledge required to safely and effectively set up and operate appropriate audio visual and PA equipment for sound reinforcement systems. Students set up and operate a basic public address or AV system to suit the requirements of both the venue and client. Available in Trimester 2.
Introduction to Electronic Music Production
This unit introduces the creative practice of electronic music techniques through software synthesizers, MIDI, arrangement and audio editing via DAW software. Students will familiarize themselves with hardware and software that is commonly used to create electronic music. Students are not required to have prior musical knowledge for this unit; the emphasis is on synthesis and creative audio manipulation. Available in Trimester 2. Prerequisite: ASP208 (Studio 2).

Yes, on completion of the Diploma of Audio Engineering & Sound Production, you can seamlessly transition into the Bachelor of Creative Technology (Audio Engineering & Sound Production) with full credit for your completed trimesters, so you can continue developing your skills in studio production, live sound, and audio for screen without starting over.
The Diploma is offered at JMC Academy's Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney campuses, with intakes available in February, June, and September each year.
The course is taught by experienced audio professionals, including Lewis Mitchell (a contemporary record producer and engineer who has worked with Delta Goodrem and Gang Of Youths), Paul McKercher (credited with five ARIA Awards and extensive experience at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation including as Triple J live music producer), and Chris Doherty (formerly an in-house Engineer at Sydney's Studios 301, with credits including Coldplay, Snoop Dogg, Cold Chisel, and John Frusciante).
