Diploma of Automotive Management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who undertake leadership and management roles in the automotive industry. It is suitable for entry into senior management roles in all sectors of the automotive industry, shifting the focus from technical repair work to running the business, the workshop and the team. The course comprises 12 units of competency — 6 core and 6 electives. Core studies cover managing environmental and sustainability best practice in an automotive workplace, managing complex customer issues, contributing to planning and implementing business improvement in an automotive workplace, managing budgets and financial plans, managing people performance, and ensuring a safe workplace. Elective studies broaden this into managing personal and professional development, managing organisational customer service, coordinating recruitment and onboarding, establishing innovative work environments, negotiating contracts, and determining retail rates for automotive products and services — combining automotive-specific management units with general business and human resources competencies. The course runs over 52 weeks and is delivered in a classroom setting at Xceed's campus at 6 Eton Road, Keswick, South Australia, with students investing an average of 4 hours per week of guided learning during training weeks, excluding term breaks. Assessment methods may include projects and research, written assignments, presentations and role play, and unit skill tests.
