Common Questions
Students must have completed an automotive Certificate IV qualification in one of the following disciplines, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency: AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling. Academic requirements include successful completion of Australian Year 12 or an equivalent international qualification, a recognised Foundation Studies program, the International Baccalaureate Certificate, or an Australian qualification at AQF level 3 or above.
This qualification is expected to be completed in thirty (30) weeks. This will include twenty-five (25) weeks of face-to-face training and five (5) weeks of term breaks.
This program will be delivered face-to-face in the classroom and an automotive workshop. The campus is located at Level 1, 287-313 Macaulay Road, North Melbourne, VIC 3051, and the automotive workshop is at Unit 5, 60 Stubbs Street, Kensington, VIC 3031.
Applicants must provide evidence of completion of the International English Language Testing system (IELTS Test), either Academic (A) or General (G) band 6 overall, or its equivalent completed within 2 years from the application date. Alternatively, applicants with IELTS band 5.5 plus 10 weeks of ELICOS, or IELTS band 5.0 plus 20 weeks of ELICOS are also accepted. Exemptions apply for citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand or Republic of Ireland, and for students with at least five years of study in English in certain countries.
Graduates may find employment as a Service Advisor, Workshop Controller, or Automotive Service Manager, as well as in roles in automotive management and sales. Further training pathways from this qualification may also lead to further automotive qualifications at tertiary level.
