About This Course

This option of the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) is designed for students who already hold a Commercial Pilot Licence. The course is designed to prepare students for their first job in aviation; either as a Charter Pilot or a First Officer in an airline. At the end of the course, successful students will be awarded a Diploma of Aviation, and will qualify for a CASA ME CIR assessment.

Eligibility

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Student is over 18 years of age at the start of the course
Student holds a current Class 1 Australian Medical by the start of the course
Student has passed the Pilot Aptitude Screening Process and has been made a firm offer of a place on the course
Unless secondary school has been completed in Australia, the student has achieved an IELTS overall score of 6.5 or above, with no sub-score less than 6.0 (academic assessment)
Student satisfies the Academic Requirements by the start of the course:
- Hold an Australian Year 12 Certificate, OR
- Hold an IB Diploma, OR
- Hold AQF Certificate IV or above (where the language of instruction was English), OR
- Successfully complete at or above Exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment
Student holds an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) by the start of the course
Student has supplied Basair a Unique Student Identification (USI) number by the start of the course

The course requires 27 hours of aircraft flying time, 26 hours in a Flight Simulation Training Device, and 96 hours of theory, all included in the course fee.

How much does the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) cost?

The tuition fee for the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) is $52,840. Local students may be eligible for VET FEE HELP funding, and overseas students enrolled in the course may be eligible for a student visa.

What is included in the course fee?

The course fee includes flight training (dual and solo), aircraft hire, simulator training, fuel, pre-flight briefings, post-flight de-briefings, and theory courses.

What qualification do I need before enrolling in this course?

Students must already hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) to enrol in this course, as it is designed specifically for CPL holders who want to improve their employability with a multi engine command instrument rating (ME CIR).

Is this course approved for international students on a student visa?
