Conduct a 3D instrument approach
Elective unit required in addition to the 13 core units of competency listed as part of the AVI50219 training package.
Common Questions
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the nationally recognised AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating), a CASA Instrument Rating, and a CASA Multi-Engine Class Rating.
The current course fee is estimated at $36,897. This includes 25 hours of dual multi-engine training, 18 hours of dual simulator training, all landing, approach and airways fees, 16.5 hours of formal briefing, and free simulator practice as determined by the flight instructor. Not included are air law documents, navigation equipment, headset, aviation medical, Aviation Security Identification Card, and uniform items.
The Western Australia Aviation College partners with The Royal Aero Club of WA to provide the practical flight training and assessment of this Diploma course. All ground theory is delivered in house by Western Australian Aviation College specialist lecturers.
To enter this Diploma course, you must hold an Australian PPL or CPL, have 50 hours of cross-country Pilot in Command time, have 5 hours of night flying including at least 1 hour of solo night circuits, hold at least a CASA Class 2 medical certificate, and have passed the IREX (Instrument Rating Exam).
This course is currently delivered on a full-time basis on campus at Jandakot Airport, Western Australia.
