Diploma of Beauty Therapy

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauty therapists to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services, including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, and nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend treatments and services, and sell retail skin-care and cosmetic products.

These individuals work relatively autonomously and are accountable for their own outputs, applying knowledge and skills with substantial depth in some areas, exercising judgement in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques. Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas. The course is currently registered under the national code SHB50121.

Delivered on campus at The Centre of Excellence's Geelong campus, the course runs for 91 study weeks plus 9 weeks of holidays (100 weeks total), covering 25 units of competency across core and elective streams. Students build advanced skills across facial treatments, body massage, hair removal, lash and brow services, and nail and make-up services, plus elective specialisations including reflexology, stone therapy massage, Indian head massage, microdermabrasion, superficial lymph massage, electrical hair reduction and diathermy treatments.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for skills and knowledge gained through previous study or relevant industry experience.
