Course Overview

About This Course

The Diploma of Branded Fashion Design is a pass into the fashion world and the business of what we wear, teaching students to create designs that turn heads, taking them from sketchbook to shop floor with an emphasis on creative, strategic, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Guided by industry professionals, students explore the theories of design and marketing, communication and brand strategies, and fashion trends, approaching the subject from historical, social and political angles as well as creative ones. Students master turning ideas into market-ready fashion, working with form, shape and colour, materials and technical drawing. Learning outcomes include mastering technical drawing skills to bring ideas to life, developing a commercial awareness of how to build and sustain a brand, understanding the importance of shape and form, and experimenting with a range of styles, fabrics and patterns.

The course is recognised by the Design Institute of Australia, benefits from a partnership with Vogue Australia offering internship, mentoring and scholarship opportunities, and includes a free Adobe Creative Cloud Pro licence for the duration of study and six months after graduation. Delivered online, on campus and in blended mode at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and online, the course runs one year full time or two years part time, at AQF Level 5, by Torrens University Australia Ltd trading as Billy Blue College of Design.

Hear From the Students

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
