Common Questions
The course runs for a total of 52 weeks (including holidays) on a full-time basis. Classes are scheduled over 40 weeks across 4 academic terms of 10 weeks each, with a 2-week break between terms and a 6-week holiday at the end of the year.
International students must have either a minimum IELTS test score of 6.0 in each band, or an equivalent score of TOEFL (60) or above, PTE (52), or Upper Intermediate level via the EAP (English Placement Test) provided by IOMT.
The total course fee is $30,250 AUD, which comprises a tuition fee of $25,000 AUD, a material fee of $5,000 AUD, and a non-refundable application fee of $250 AUD. Note that the application fee is not part of the total course fee and is non-refundable.
This qualification covers both residential and commercial construction. Residential construction is limited to National Construction Code (NCC) Class 1 and 10 buildings, up to a maximum of three storeys. Commercial construction is limited to NCC Class 2 to 9 buildings, restricted to Type B and C construction only.
Graduates of this diploma may work in occupational roles including Builder, General Foreperson, and Building Inspector, applying knowledge of structural principles, risk and financial management, estimating, contract administration, contractor selection, and construction quality oversight.
