Diploma of Business

After successful completion of the Diploma in Business, you are automatically offered a place in QUT's Bachelor of Business and are eligible for 96 credit points (one year) of advanced standing. This means it will take two full-time years (or equivalent part-time) to complete your Bachelor of Business in any major.

The Diploma in Business has three intake dates per year: February, July, and November. The duration varies depending on your start date — 8 months full-time for July and November starts, and 12 months full-time for the February start.

The ATAR/selection rank threshold is 60.00 (the lowest adjusted score to which QUT made an offer in Semester 1, 2026). Assumed knowledge includes English, Literature, English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C). If you have completed an AQF certificate III, certificate IV, diploma or higher and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are also guaranteed an offer in the Semester 1 offer rounds.

The course is taught at QUT College, located at QUT's Kelvin Grove campus. You will receive a QUT Student ID card which gives you access to all of QUT's outstanding facilities, making you part of the QUT university community right from the start. The College also offers lifestyle and social opportunities, including an activities club, to help you meet new friends and broaden your experience.

The Diploma in Business is equivalent to the first year of QUT's Bachelor of Business and is an introduction to key disciplines and functions of business, providing knowledge of current business environments in a global context. You will study first year academic content, develop your academic language and literacy skills through literature reviews and presentations, and complete 96 credit points of core units including discipline units and academic skills units. Classes are small and interactive, ensuring you get the support you need to succeed.
