About This Course

The Diploma of Business provides core business knowledge and skills, covering the fundamentals of communication, marketing and management under the guidance of Torrens University's industry-expert academics. Four elective subjects let students tailor the course to their career goals, while the curriculum promotes the critical thinking skills needed to create strategic business and marketing plans and identify business opportunities. Students research, analyse and interpret domestic and international business environments across eight subjects in total, comprising five core and three elective subjects. On completion, credits can be used to enter the second year of a Bachelor of Business degree. Learning outcomes include developing organisational strategies to support business success, analysing domestic and international business trends, applying critical thinking and strategic planning in an enterprise context, and identifying business opportunities and how to act on them. The course includes 50 hours of industry experience.

Torrens University is a member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). This AQF Level 5 course is delivered online, on campus or in blended mode across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and online, over one year full-time, two years part-time, or two trimesters accelerated.

Eligibility

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students:

Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent OR
Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above OR
Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent OR
Work-life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level, which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

International students:

Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent OR
Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent Senior Secondary qualification, or Baccalaureate Diploma AND
Academic IELTS 6 (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent OR
Alternative entry requirement may be available
