Diploma of Business

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business is a nationally recognised VET qualification offered by The Business School Pty Ltd (TBS), designed for individuals in business services roles who may hold frontline management accountabilities. It suits people such as executive officers, office managers and program coordinators who want to build broader skills across budgeting, workplace communication, sustainability planning and business resource management. To be awarded the qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 5 core units and 7 elective units (12 in total), covering areas such as critical thinking, financial and budget management, workplace communication, business operations, marketing and risk management. Delivery differs by cohort: domestic and corporate students study online and self-paced via TBS's Learning Management System over 72 weeks, with a new unit released every 6 weeks and ongoing trainer support, while international students attend face-to-face classes at TBS's Campsie campus over 74 weeks (6 terms, including 14 weeks holiday), with a minimum of 20 scheduled contact hours per week. Assessment combines underpinning knowledge checks, case-study and practical assessments and, for international students, direct observation, product-based tasks such as reports and presentations, and structured questioning. Students with relevant prior skills, qualifications or work experience may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), credit transfer or national recognition to reduce the units they need to complete. On graduation, students can pathway into further study such as the BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management or BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Business, and the qualification also carries credit-linking arrangements with Southern Cross University and The Australian School of Accounting toward select bachelor and associate degree programs.
