Diploma of Business

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business is a nationally recognised VET qualification delivered by the West Australian Institute of Further Studies (WAIFS) at its Perth campus. It suits students who already have substantial hands-on business experience and want to broaden their skills across core business functions, as well as those with a solid grounding in business who want to build toward further study or a management-track career. Graduates are equipped to pursue roles such as Executive Officer, Program Consultant and Program Coordinator.

Across its 12 units of competency (5 core, 7 elective), students build capability in critical thinking, budgets and financial plans, business resource management, sustainable workplace policy, and workplace communication, alongside electives covering operational planning, meetings, diversity and inclusion, and emotional intelligence.

The course runs over 52 weeks (40 study weeks plus 12 weeks holiday), delivered face-to-face on Saturdays and Sundays (8:45am–5:00pm) at WAIFS' Perth campus, with monthly intakes. Assessment combines classroom delivery, simulated work environments, presentations and written assessments, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for eligible applicants.

On completion, graduates may progress into the BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Business or other Diploma, Advanced Diploma or degree qualifications, with possible unit exemptions depending on the receiving institution.
