Diploma of Business

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business suits a wide range of students, from those with substantial workplace experience in roles such as executive officer, program consultant or program coordinator looking to formalise and extend their skills, through to students with little or no vocational experience but a sound theoretical grounding in business who want to open up further study and employment opportunities. The qualification develops broad business capability, covering financial and resource management, workplace policy and sustainability, communication and team leadership. It is well suited to students seeking to move into a leadership or management position, enter a new industry sector, or build a pathway toward higher-level business qualifications. Twelve units are studied in total — five core and seven elective — allowing students to tailor part of their study toward areas such as risk, people management or team effectiveness. The course is delivered in blended mode — 15 hours face-to-face and 5 hours online via Moodle — across 78 weeks, comprising 60 weeks of training and assessment over six 10-week terms plus 18 weeks of holidays. Classes are held at Alpha Institute's Belconnen (ACT) and Sydney CBD (NSW) campuses, giving students the flexibility to study at either location.
