Academic Skills for Success
Introduces students to academic skills required for academic studies, including time management, organisational skills, digital skills, referencing, critical thinking, academic writing, research and investigation techniques, and presentation skills. Weekly workshops are used as interactive sessions with practical exercises.
Foundations of Information Technology
Introduces students to the field of information technology, covering theoretical knowledge and practical application of basic IT aspects relevant to 21st century business operations. Topics include the Internet, computer hardware, operating systems, software tools, networking, communication systems, database technology, business information systems design and management, and current IT trends.
Service Management
Encompasses theoretical concepts of creating meaningful customer relationships, service design, delivering quality services and service recovery. Explores the impact of technology, experience design in the digital age, and emerging trends impacting service design, as well as the service culture ethos and internal customer and supplier relationships.
Principles of Management and Organisations
Provides students with an understanding of principles of management applied across organisations. Covers theories of management, inquiry-based skills, leadership, diversity in the global workplace, teams and teamwork, planning, controlling, organising, motivating, and management strategies in personal and professional contexts.
Business Communication and Stakeholder Management
Provides fundamentals of business communication with emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practical application. Covers internal and external communication strategies with management, colleagues, customers, vendors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
Accounting for Managers
Covers key concepts in accounting and finance for non-specialist business students. Topics include accounting fundamentals, accounting for common items, planning, capital investment, and guidance on when to seek specialist accounting advice.
Marketing Foundations
Introduces marketing and locates the function within the organisational context. Covers micro and macro environmental analysis, ethics, the 4Ps, and core marketing topics. Uses journal articles, current events, and campaigns to enhance learning.
Introduction to Global Business
Provides foundational knowledge in global business with a focus on the global business environment and strategies for firms in the context of increasing globalisation.
