Academic Skills for Success
Introduces students to academic skills required for academic studies, including time management, digital skills, referencing, critical thinking, academic writing, research and investigation techniques, and presentation skills. Weekly workshops are used as interactive sessions for practical exercises.
Foundations of Information Technology
Introduces students to the field of information technology, covering theoretical knowledge and practical application of basic aspects of IT, internet and e-world, computer hardware, operating systems, software tools, networking, database technology, and current trends in IT.
Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism
Introduces the characteristics, relationships, dynamics and complexity of the tourism, hospitality, and event sectors. Explores stakeholders, nature and complexity of tourism, hospitality and events, and their interrelationships, including emerging trends and management issues.
Principles of Management and Organisations
Provides students with an understanding of principles of management applied across organisations, covering theories of management, leadership and management practices, working in a diverse global workplace, teams and teamwork, planning, organising, leading, and motivating.
Business Communication and Stakeholder Management
Provides fundamentals of business communication with emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and application, covering internal and external communication strategies, stakeholder management, lectures, class discussions, self-assessments, and group work.
Food and Beverage Management
Develops understanding of core principles and practices of food and beverage management, covering restaurant operations, the management process, marketing, production and service, sanitation and safety, design, and current and future trends.
Marketing Foundations
Introduction to marketing and its function within the organisational context, covering micro and macro environmental analysis, ethics, the 4Ps, and providing a foundation for more specialised marketing units.
Visitor Management

You need to pass 8 units totalling 80 credit points (10 credit points per unit). This consists of 5 core units (Academic Skills for Success, Marketing Foundations, Business Communication and Stakeholder Management, Principles of Management and Organisations, and Foundations of Information Technology) and 3 specialisation units in hospitality and tourism management (Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism, Food and Beverage Management, and Visitor Management).
The course has intakes in February, March, May, June, August, September, October, and November each year. For 2026, a confirmed start date is Semester 1, Block 4 with orientation on 27 May 2026 and classes commencing 1 June 2026.
Graduates may pursue careers as a Front Office Supervisor, Travel Agent, Food and Beverage Supervisor, or Guest Services Agent.
