Academic Skills for Success
Introduces students to academic skills required for academic studies, including time management and organisational skills, digital skills, referencing, critical thinking, academic writing, research and investigation techniques and presentation skills. Pre-requisite: Nil.
Foundations of Information Technology
Introduces students to the field of information technology, covering theoretical knowledge and practical application of basic IT aspects relevant to 21st century business operations, including internet, computer hardware, operating systems, software tools, networking, database technology, business information systems design and management, and current IT trends.
Accounting for Business Decisions
Provides an introduction to accounting and governance mechanisms, covering bookkeeping, financial reports preparation, retail operations accounting, inventory, accrual accounting, management accounting, basic accounting concepts/principles/methods, and ethical/environmental issues in accounting.
Database Management for Business
Provides foundations of professional ethics and a broad management-oriented understanding of ethical issues in IT, covering legal, ethical and societal implications of technology, professional codes of ethics, file sharing, intellectual property, security risk assessment, internet crime, identity theft, employee surveillance, privacy, compliance, social networking, and ethics of IT corporations.

Principles of Management and Organisations
Provides understanding of principles of management applied across organisations, covering theories of management, inquiry-based skills in the contemporary workplace, leadership and management practices, working in a diverse global workplace, teams and teamwork, planning, organising, leading, motivating, and management strategies.
Foundations of Programming
Introduces fundamental computing concepts and computer programming techniques including problem solving, algorithm design, coding, documenting, debugging, testing and implementation. Covers basic algorithms (searching, sorting) and data structures (arrays). Students are exposed to programming languages such as C++, Java or Python.
Statistics for Professionals
Introduces basic theoretical concepts and applications of statistics in a real-world business environment, covering descriptive statistics, statistical inference, probability, correlation and regression, sampling, hypothesis testing and chi-squared tests. Students are introduced to different statistical software packages.
