Course Content
Academic Skills for Success
Introduces students to academic skills required for academic studies. Develops academic communication and study skills including time management and organisational skills, digital skills, referencing, critical thinking, academic writing, research and investigation techniques and presentation skills.
Foundations of Information Technology
Introduces students to the field of information technology, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical application of basic aspects of IT and their relevance to 21st century business operations. Covers the Internet, computer hardware, operating systems, software tools, networking and communication systems, database technology, and current issues and trends in IT.
Strategy, Structure and Culture
Provides a framework underpinned by strategy, structure and culture that drives project success, including processes, practices and decision-making. Explores pure project, matrix and mixed organisational structures; project strategy framed by vision statements, business cases, project briefs and charters.
Principles of Management and Organisations
Provides students with an understanding of principles of management applied across organisations. Covers theories of management, leadership practices, working in a diverse global workplace, teams and teamwork, planning and controlling information flow, organising and leading, motivating and rewarding, and management strategies in personal and professional contexts.
Business Communication and Stakeholder Management
Provides students with the fundamentals of business communication with emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practical application. Helps students analyse, select, and apply appropriate communication strategies for internal and external organisational contexts.
Accounting for Managers
Intended for business students not specialising in finance or accounting. Covers accounting fundamentals, accounting for common items, planning, capital investment, and guidance on when to seek specialist assistance. Develops financial literacy for general business managers.
Project Scope and Quality Management
Develops expertise to recognise and address issues in projects that deviate from original objectives, including poorly defined scope and quality failures. Students learn to differentiate stakeholder expectations, motivate project teams, and design criteria and processes to secure project performance.
Schedule and Resources Management
Examines the core project management knowledge areas of schedule and resources. Students learn to identify and define project activities, estimate durations, and develop, control and optimise a project schedule using Critical Path Method and PERT analysis, as well as identify, acquire and manage project resources.

The total course tuition fee is $17,840 (2026) over 1 year, with a fee of $2,230 per unit. For 2024 the fees were $17,000 in total and $2,125 per unit. All fees are in Australian dollars, are subject to change without notice, and must be paid in full before enrolment or selection of subjects in any given semester.
The course has four intakes per year: February, May, August, and October. For 2026 Semester 1 Block 4, classes start on 1 June 2026, with the last date to enrol also on 1 June 2026 and a census date of 8 June 2026.
You need to pass 8 units (80 credit points total, 10 credit points per unit) to complete the Diploma. This consists of 5 core units (Academic Skills for Success, Business Communication and Stakeholder Management, Accounting for Managers, Principles of Management and Organisations, and Foundations of Information Technology) and 3 specialised project management units (Strategy, Structure and Culture; Project Scope and Quality Management; and Schedule and Resources Management).
Graduates can pursue careers as a Project Manager, Project Team Leader, Project Management Coordinator, or Project Contract Manager. Completion of the Diploma also provides advanced standing into the Associate Degree of Business (Project Management) and the Bachelor of Business (Project Management) at AIH.
Full-time students will have approximately 8 hours of on-campus classes each week. In addition, students should set aside a minimum of 10–12 hours per week in their own time to complete assignments, readings, projects, and prepare for quizzes and presentations.
Assessment at AIH encompasses practical, professionally focused, and research-based learning. Assessment types include reports, project documentation, case studies and presentations; essays and assignments; quizzes; and practicals and team-based projects.
