About This Course

WMIT's RII50520 Diploma of Civil Construction Design is a nationally recognised Australian vocational qualification that prepares graduates to work as a civil engineering draftsperson, design draftsperson, or engineering technician supporting professional engineers on infrastructure and construction projects. It reflects the role of design paraprofessionals who apply a high level of autonomy and technical judgement to develop site-specific civil works designs that meet client requirements. The course is delivered face-to-face at WMIT's Melbourne CBD campus over 76 weeks and is CRICOS-registered under code 114698B, open to international students on a Student Visa.

Across 20 units of competency, students develop expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM), structural calculations, surface and sub-surface drainage design, and civil foundations. Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Certificate III in EAL, or Academic IELTS band score of 6.0 or equivalent
Satisfactorily completed ELICOS to at least Upper Intermediate level
18 years or older at commencement of course
Completion of any Australian AQF Certificate III or higher qualification
Completed the equivalent of Australian Year 11 from an English-speaking country (Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa or the Republic of Ireland)

Additional Requirements:

Basic computer skills, including word processing software and effective internet research
WMIT conducts an LLN assessment at orientation to identify any support required
